2015DBRP_220 Jer36-37 Pro4b 1Cor13

In yesterday's reading in Jeremiah, he gave more specific warnings to King Zedekiah. And then we heard of the inspiring example of the Recabites.

Yesterday in the first half of chapter 4, we heard again about Lady Wisdom:

Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do!
When you walk, you won’t be held back;
when you run, you won’t stumble.

Solomon introduces some of these words saying that he was taught them by his father, which would be, of course, King David. It is interesting to consider that we could be hearing some of David's wisdom in those verses.

To give us the transition, we start at the end of chapter 12:

29Are we all apostles? Are we all prophets? Are we all teachers? Do we all have the power to do miracles? 30Do we all have the gift of healing? Do we all have the ability to speak in unknown languages? Do we all have the ability to interpret unknown languages? Of course not! 31So you should earnestly desire the most helpful gifts.

But now let me show you a way of life that is best of all.
